Have you ever wished that you could take away the pain of others? With Reiki, you have tools for healing with you at all times.
What is Reiki? Rei = Source or The Universe Ki = Energy is energy from source. A nondenominational, simple natural healing therapy. Reiki is a gentle energy transfer healing method that has brought our clients some powerful results.
What does it work on? Reiki works on the body, mind, the emotional field and the spirit and feels very much like a deep, restorative, restful sleep or a deep meditation. Reiki may be used purely for wellbeing and also for soothing and replenishing the body after injury or illness. Reiki can often have profound effects in a single session.
We have used Reiki to heal broken bones, arthritis, back pain from wear, injury or strain, hip pain, frozen shoulders, RSI, bedwetting, night terrors, blood disorders, eyesight issues, conjunctivitis, to relieve stress, headaches, hangovers, for removing trauma and pain from old injury sites (including sports injuries), relieving pain from operations, to help with self confidence, release suicidal tendencies, to aid in the treament of depression, and restore people who just 'don't feel like themselves anymore' and to empower kids. Reiki is extremely good for supporting people who are experiencing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and it also gently builds self esteem. The list goes on.
Reiki in many cases, eradicates pain completely. Some of the pain I've released using Reiki, has been with the clients for 20 and 30 - even 50 years, and many healing miracles have happened with this method of healing. I have used Reiki successfully many times in cases when a client has been told they 'just have to live with the problem' they have. Reiki has completely released or healed their issue.
Comfort Reiki is all about comfort, so the client can sit, or lay down if they wish. The only item of clothing that needs to be removed is their shoes, and practitioners may give Reiki by sending it to the body with hands off, or use the hands on method.
James and I are both Usui Reiki Master/Teachers of the Usui Reiki Natural Healing System. This means we work on clients, and teach people Reiki Healing to Master Level, and also teach them how to teach others.
Reiki is non-denominational - you are not required to follow any religion and people from all sorts of religions have learned it.
your faith in your ability (which will grow as you work with and experience Reiki) is important.
Reiki Practitioners, Masters and Teachers include people who are non religious and people who are religious.
Learning Reiki People who learn Reiki have a commonality in their wish to empower and help wellness for individuals and also generally wish to help the planet. It is used in many hospitals all over the world to assist in pre op preparation and post op recovery. Reiki is simple to learn and can empower families, saving a HUGE amount of time, money and unnecessary stress.
Reiki can be used on a person who is in the room with you.
Reiki can also be sent remotely, to a person in a different place.
Reiki can be used to help animals too.
When I learned Reiki I was a bit scared I wouldn't be able to remember, and wouldn't be able to do it. But what happened when I stepped out of my comfort zone, was simply amazing. It's not about remembering as much as it is about being tuned into it. It's a logical process.
Some people, who are very sensitive to life generally, are healers with wide open gifts that are not being used. Those wide open gifts, which are FABULOUS to have as a healer, can debilitate the everyday life of a person who doesn't realise what they are.
Have you ever walked into a shopping mall and gone 'ICK!! This place is just jumping with TOO many people'?
Have you ever felt the pain of another person while sitting next to them?
Have you ever felt like you were at your wits end, but everyone around you just thought you were making it all up and had no good reason to be stressed?
Have you ever been called Mary Poppins or Pollyanna because you're always trying to help?
Life can be much easier when you learn how to navigate your sensory system and if you've said 'Yes' to many of these, you may actually be a healer. You can learn how to empower yourself and block that overwhelm and to use the power you have for healing yourself and others and to improve your life.
Many of our Reiki Clients receive such a benefit from their experience, they train with us and go on to treat family, friends and work colleagues. Some further their learning and become part time or full time Reiki Practitioners, bringing a boost to their income as a result. When I learnt Reiki - it immediately affected the wellness of my family. I was so surprised and really pleased for my children, there's nothing worse than having a sick child and feeling like you can't do anything to help. I saved money and time off work too. As a single Mum, that was huge.
Here's my first experience with Reiki My back was chronically sore when I was 30, for about 7 years. And my very trusted doctor had told me when I was very small, that when we are older, we get sore backs and our bodies start to deteriorate, and there is nothing we can do about it. Adverts on TV reinforced this and so his comment went into my mind and stuck there. After all, when you are a small child you believe grown ups, and Doctors.
My back was sore when I was 30, and I took Panadol pain medication for years. I didn't like taking it, but a pharmacist told me if the pain is there and the medication is available, then I should take it. When I learned Reiki, and had a session demonstrated on me, my back pain left my body, I felt like I had been oiled. I had an expectation of unwellness, and deterioration, and now my reality was different. I was very surprised and actually, a little shocked - in a great way.
Mindset and beliefs around illness I realised I, like many people, had bought into the idea that we are all going to get sick, I've now treated so many people and watched them walk free of pain they were told they 'just had to take medication' for, or had to 'put up with' that I believe it's crucial for people to know how simple healing can be. In Reiki you do not diagnose. We never tell anyone not to take their medication, and we work alongside the mainstream medicine they are taking or programs they are following, to enhance their results. Many of our clients heal faster. And some heal so that they don't need medication any more, which they confirm with their Doctors.
Reiki really does bring a feeling of deep peace and wellness and a release of pain. If you've never experienced anything you could describe as bliss before - this is it.
How often can you have Reiki? You can have Reiki daily, weekly, monthly - as frequently as you want. Reiki Sessions are a deeply nurturing, restorative experience that can be part of your holistic maintenance and pamper plan - just like a relaxing massage, regular exercise and a healthy diet. Many of our clients get off the healing table feeling so amazing, and ask how soon they can return. We let them know they can come when they want and if they have a specific chronic illness they are working on, some come to James daily for a few days to work as deeply and continuously on that.
Reiki is a part of a healthy love relationship with your body, mind and spirit, and committing to several sessions is extremely beneficial.
Bringing body, mind and spirit into balance brings all of life into balance, and a positive, liberated, empowered you is a great you for everyone.
A Reiki Client experience This is my client's broken - then healed, collarbone. Nine days apart, these X-Rays show the healing journey of a young lady who (despite her expected 6 weeks + physio recovery time) was back on the netball court practising within three weeks, playing competitive sport in four weeks, and who trialled against 75 others to gain her spot in the provincial team just 7 weeks after her 'break from netball' happened.
My client gifted me her X-rays to teach students, and her mother Sue learnt Reiki to Practitioner Level to help friends, family - and you guessed it - the Netball Team!!
Reiki in the news Reiki is credited with helping Hayden Roulston, one of our Kiwi athletes to recover from a life threatening chronic heart condition to cycle to a silver medal, second place in the Beijing Olympics. More recently singer Christina Aguilera is reported to have praised 3 x weekly Reiki sessions for helping to put her mind in a good place and support her on an amazing 30 pound weight loss journey.
Reiki in hospitals Reiki is often described as a feeling of bliss and deep peace. It's used pre-op and post-op in many hospitals around the world, and in some medical training, a Reiki Qualification can give you extra credits.
Children can learn Reiki too, and use it to help themselves and others. If your child has Reiki healing and uses it to empower themselves, they could make themselves feel better when you're not present to do it for them.
Reiki for sceptics I have witnessed many healing miracles - and many of those happened to fairly sceptic people. You don't have to 'believe' in Reiki for it to be effective, all you need is a genuine desire for wellness. That said, it's most helpful if you just relax and go with the flow.
A Reiki Level One Healer Self Healing experience Fact #1 Reiki improves wellness for millions of people all over the world.
Fact #2 Reiki can be administered with hands positioned on, or just off the body. The client may lay down or sit up to receive Reiki.
Fact #3 You don't have to believe in anything mystical or religious to receive and benefit from Reiki.
Myth #1 It's like a massage. Noooooo. Reiki is not like a massage, Reiki clients keep their clothes on, and generally just take off their shoes.
Myth #2 Reiki is some kind of religion. Nooooo. Reiki is non-denominational. Reiki is Universal Energy (this surrounds us always), some might call that God Energy, and that's ok too if it's important to them. It is a life force energy. Ki, means energy, like Chi and Prana.
Myth #3 You have to have 'healing hands' to learn Reiki Noooooo. You don't. Reiki is an attunement. This means you are tuned in to use it, a little like tuning a radio station. It is not a gift, until you have it, then it becomes a gift to use and help transform wellness.
Reiki is used globally by more than 4 million people, for wellness, for stress and pain release, for rehabilitation and to make life easier. It is a respectful, non denominational method of energy transference and has origins in the primal care we have always extended to each other: love, touch, and comfort.
After my Level 1 Reiki Class I came home, feeling a little light headed and excited, and wondering if I could 'really do it'. I slept soooo well and was looking forward to using Reiki. I had homework, to practice Reiki on myself for 21 days - I had two young sons and was excited to use it for them too.
I was on my own, doing the lions share of parenting, and any way I could help make that easier was welcome - a well family saves stress, time and discomfort, time off work and money too. Good for me and great for my boys? Bring it on!
Unexpectedly, my chance came the following morning.
As is often the way, the boys shared a bunk bed. My older son woke up very early the following morning and uttered the words no mother wants to hear "BLEEEEAAARGH I'm gonna be SICK" As he hopped out of bed I leapt up on 'autopilot damage control mode' praying for him to avoid vomiting on the carpet... and then the weirdest thing happened. He ran around the corner and into the bathroom, and leaned over the toilet making a huge heave noise. I was right behind him and put my hands on his back, saying "Don't be sick, don't be sick, don't be sick." He stopped. He gave another sort of half heave, breathed in and said.. "Oh, wow, that's weird. I don't feel sick anymore, in fact..... gee that's really weird." And standing up, he looked at me and then said "I'm a bit hungry. I think I will go and eat breakfast." I watched in stunned amazement as he left the bathroom and went to the dining table. (It was CocoPops, if you're wondering.)
I was standing there wondering what happened (I was sleeping when all this started, so hadn't really got all my faculties in order) and then I realised my Reiki had switched on automatically as my hands were so hot - they felt like they were almost glowing.
My son went off to school right as rain. Amazing.
Reiki has helped my family many times since and as I became a Reiki Master/Teacher, I have been priveleged to share it with countless people. It has definitely changed my life for the better and brought me many amazing experiences on my journey. The simplest and most graceful form of healing, anyone can learn it, as you are attuned by the Master. My fear when I went along, was due to what I thought was a bad memory (and truckloads of low self confidence), but I was so reassured, and then I came to understand, that Reiki is a process that you learn by doing. It's an ongoing major blessing in my life, and can be the same for you.
Maybe you are a healer…? How would you know? We are all healers in some way - but some of us do resonate more with our abilities, or could do with awakening to our abilities so we can use them to enhance our lives and the lives of others.
15 Tell Tale Signs to watch out for...
The following checklist may prove useful to you - and perhaps it will bring an AHA moment or two, plus answer the odd question you may have. It all relates to my experience and what I have witnessed through my work. Knowing how to use these gifts has changed my life completely.

2. You feel awful when others are suffering.
3. If you could take people’s pain away you would.
4. You are attracted to caring professions.

8. People tell you they feel better ‘just having you around’.
9. You can see the bigger picture and are great at reassuring people.
10. When people who felt terrible, get up feeling fabulous and walk away, sometimes you feel flat as a pancake.
11. Even when you are the sober driver, you still wake the next day feeling hung over.
12. You feel chronically dehydrated sometimes.
13. Sometimes (often times) you have to admit that you look after other people better than you look after yourself.
14. You often run on empty, then find some kind of magic hidden reserve and keep going. (No, wait! That might be also be parenting!)
15. You can no longer watch the scary movies or thrillers you once found interesting because they somehow impact too deeply on your body.
