A word from the wise…
'Always listen to yourself. It's better to be wrong than simply follow convention.
If you are wrong, no matter, you will have learned something and you will grow stronger. If you are right, you will have taken another step toward a more fulfilling life. '
- Bryce Courtenay 1933 - 2012
You are treasure. I've told you before and sometimes you've soaked it up and said "Yes!" Other times, you've given me that look. The one that says "No way, I'm broken, I'm not that thing you think you see, I am believing that I am nothing much at all." But nothing could be further from the truth. Sure there are days when we are resistant, but we have to check ourselves sometimes, and remember that resistance blocks us. In all directions. Flow is really important and we can't flow that well if we have dammed up our stream with rocks.
You're perfect as you are, it just takes a moment sometimes for us to realise this and embrace it, and when life feels tough - now and then, a little nudge is all we need to come back online.
Bryce Courtenay is probably writing away somewhere in the stars. I like to think he is helping me.
I've certainly learned from him and when I read this beautiful piece of writing (below), I think we share similarities of vision. He, more than any other writer, opened my eyes to african stars, to the power of one, to hopes, dreams and far away places.
When I see his books, I scoop them up. At a school fair I discovered 'A Recipe for Dreaming' and it was a dollar. I felt blessed, inherited a bookmark and a little note that said 'whether you are near or far, I have roads inside me, that take me to where you are.' I wonder who left it there. It's a heartwarming extra gift. It's a curious thing, reading another persons secondhand book. I wonder where it's been, who has soaked it's wisdom up, who has been entertained. Did it mean to them, what it means to me?
Bryce writes 'The combination of learning to dream and getting into the habit of asking yourself questions is, I believe, the beginning of a way to live a happy and original life.'
This is accurate for me. I spent years running from myself and only recently realised how to stop and ask myself what was right for me, how I felt and what I was here for. Too often the treadmill captures us.
I thought I would share this little passage from the book with you because it has inspired me so.
'You were not born empty.
God formed you with perfect feet and hands and a heart that beats non-stop, sometimes for a hundred years. He made you complete.
Why then, do you assume He made you empty?
He didn't, of course. You inherited a thousand generations of wisdom, skill, poetry, song, all the sunrises and sunsets of knowledge past. You are the sum of all the people who went before you.
You are a refinery of intellectual wealth.
The full flood of antecedent wisdom is piped and stored within you - how to climb the highest mountain, slay the biggest monster, how to survive fear and how to summon your own courage and take pride in your wonderful intelligence.
Inside you are more possibilities than you could possibly use up in one lifetime.
If you can dream it - you can do it, because the instinctive knowledge of how to succeed is already programmed within you waiting to be turned on. Waiting to flow like a river as you come on stream.'
I love it, don't you?
Bryce has been a big part of my dreaming. Perhaps he can inspire you too.
Sometimes people trying to get their points across look like zealots, and nothing turns me off faster, but amongst the zealoty over the top clips I have seen, a raft of great videos and news reports go through my facebook newsfeed. And these are a few I appreciate, so I am sharing.
I am not into cons-piracy theories, I am into knowing that corporations are about profit and governments are funded by big, often discreetly gifted money. I am into knowing about what I can do to help myself and others around me.
I am inspired to look more closely at the people around me and engage with them on a loving level. I might not understand their lives. I don't have to - but they are people like me, they for the most part, have sons and daughters and family they care about. They don't want their children to die tragically or needlessly, something has to give.
Perhaps these will inspire some thought...
1. Mike Prysner - I don't know him, I don't know for certain if this is his valid life experience or merely a really well designed protest talk - but he makes such valid points, on humanity, greed, and rising above war and racism.
'Ordinary' people of volume do have great power, but not until they realise it. Remember the massive amount of people in the Egypt protest?
It's worth your time to watch Mike's talk here. (He gets a few standing ovations before the end, but they are not the end - keep watching.)
2. I am aware of the massive mental destruction that occurs as a result of trauma. I work with people suffering from prolonged abuse, PTSD and other related issues. Reawakening the spirit within us all is crucial - and in this clip, the moment of engagement when this ex-veteran recognises himself under the layers of disillusionment is extremely heartwarming. He moves into a new phase of life as a result.
It's a sad truth that many Vets are suffering unsupported from PTSD. Who did they really lose themselves for, what haunts them most? If they were all grouped together and allowed to air what haunts them most in a book, would anyone go to war? Would anyone send their child to war?
3. Russell Brand's great interview with Jeremy Paxman took the world by storm and is loaded with valid points that echo or rather frame the importance of the first talk by Mike Prysner. Russell doesn't have answers - he is outlining the need to recognise our power, aware of his own faults and speaking out of the space he has earned through his own work, like we all do - he has a right to have an opinion.
I agree with Billy Connolly's quote from several years ago 'the desire to become a politician should prevent anyone from ever being allowed to be one.' I don't have answers either though, just suggestions.
There are clips in my facebook newsfeed daily, clips that are not reaching mainstream media - displaying the massive amount of nuclear polluted water - thousands of litres a day, heading into the sea as a result of Fukushima. Draw your own conclusions as to why this is not being shared in the mainstream media.
Find out about sustainability and pay attention to what is going into your mouth.
About 3 weeks ago I chose to leave a full plate of sushi because the texture of the salmon in it was weird. I am not saying that it has been 'poisoned' - but it made me think - I don't know what was in it, and bad choices are being made on our behalf without any pretense of consultation. Have you seen the information about McDonalds fries having 17 ingredients? Did you, like me, imagine they are made of potatoes, oil and salt?
We don't all need to be food zealots, but if we are what we eat and we are eating food loaded with numbers, bleach and dye - don't expect to feel great.
We need to know where our food comes from, eat local, plant seeds, grow fruit trees, use farmers markets, buy organic if possible, throw away processed (I call it mechanical) food, it interferes with our brains, our children's brains and bodies - and perhaps learn how to muscle test the food we eat.
We are fresh bodies. We NEED fresh air, love, fresh food AND fresh water, and we need to know where it comes from. We need to be more involved, more engaged with what we put in, because wellness is no longer something that many people can take for granted. I don't want Nestle to deplete water reservoirs from villages in Pakistan, which is what they are currently doing.
Pay attention to what is coming out of your mouth - do be gentle and love each other without screaming about differences - strangers care about you and we see that demonstrated so easily when I ask for group healing on my facebook page.
You might not know the people who send you healing, they just do it because they are GREAT people. You pass people daily in the street who wish you well, you are unaware of them, and they may not resonate with you, but they are there all the same.
Care about yourself. Care about others. Teach your children to care about themselves and others, lead by example, and even when you are worried about life - don't teach them hopelessness, find them mentors, inspiration and discover what makes their hearts soar. The world we live in is personal and magical when we make it so. We can change it, by being mindful, by being loving, by being compassionate. We don't have to be perfect in any moment. Just engaged.
Get a mentor, find someone who inspires you to keep reaching forward, even when life feels awful, because sometimes it does. Keep common sense with you - if what they say really has you questioning - don't blindly follow. I've heard a lot of crap come out of people who stood up and said they had all the answers.
We all know there is a kind of crash already happening, it's via an obvious misalignment of us - people with new ideas and new needs crashing into the old archaic, establishment way of doing things. It's a good crash, a radical positive lifestyle change, coming in on a tide of dyslexic children, who don't fit the system and are more feeling, sensitive people. It's coming in on a web that connects people globally, on a wave of people who are disenchanted with the way government doesn't work, it's coming in on a wave of life changing love reaching the planet.
The change is coming in with you. As Sting said - Love is the seventh wave.
All you have to do is place one foot in front of the other and keep your eyes open and take care.
Peace begins with us.

50 ways energy healing has helped my clients
I have just spent the morning watching a BBC Doco entitled 'Don't Grow Old.'
I loved it. It presented the work of several scientists, I agreed with some and not with others, but they all showed me some really important things.
Most important was that a strong attitude created a strong life and there was a snippet on Dr Ellen Langer's study from 1979 where she put several 'elderly' men back in time, in a house that was set in 1959, furnished with all the appropriate 1959 props - even newspapers, and caring for themselves. Some of them had current caregivers that they were not allowed to take with them into the test. It was just for a week, but at the end of the week, the results were really rather amazing.
For a couple of days, predictably, they grumbled a bit, but they had to look after themselves, so they did.
Tenacity is a great healer. The results showed some put on weight. Their brains worked better, they tested as moving faster, standing taller, and one threw away his walking stick. In 1979, these people lived as though they were 20 years younger and they became more well as a result.
My opinion. The energy of ageing was negated by introducing the energy of tenacity and youth.
If you have to do it you will.
Will is very, very important and very very underrated, not to mention widely misused.
You can learn how to use yours to bring wellness, feel younger, feel fitter, there are many ways in which people have used their will to beat the odds.
Those layers of life that make you feel less than great can be shifted.
What are you using your will for?

Do you resonate with this?
You've dragged yourself to work, aching and knowing that you really shouldn't be there, but you are scraping through hoping you'll make it to the weekend.
It's only Wednesday and everyone is looking at you as if you are a leper.
You have 'the guilts' and are being eyeballed as a risk to everyone's health, while simultaneously cursed, because nobody wants you to take time off.
You are wishing you were at home in bed anyway.
You somehow find a hidden reserve of energy and make it through the afternoon, go home, and in the morning you just can't do it. Your worry about the cost of a day off, of healthcare, what other people think about you spreading bugs and being a general inconvenience has melded with your feeling like crap and something has tipped the balance on your scales.
You decide not to go into the office today.
You don't really like taking pills, but if you have to, you will take them, and you're not getting any better, so you go to the Doctor - because you can't take time off work without a medical certificate. Sitting in the waiting room, you pray that other peoples bugs don't jump on you and so you shallow breathe and cringe slightly.
You watch, privately shuddering as small, slime encrusted children share their slime with toys and books, and you wonder to yourself about how potentially hazardous it is to collate a whole lot of buggy people in one space.
The Doctor is running late. More buggy people arrive. You succumb to the allure of the 2 year old House & Garden - to discover the recipe of your dreams in its pages.
Your morals say no to ripping out the page - and the recipe is a long one. You are halfway through frantically scribbling when the Doctor calls your name.
In his office you breathe again, mentally testing yourself on his eye chart, and wondering how tall you are now, while you look at the measuring tape on his wall.
He takes one look at you and says "You're not well." This is not news to you.
(Doctors are amazing people, and they work brilliantly with body mechanics and clues. Thankfully some very fabulous ones are getting into natural therapies and so can offer a range of services - however - I am not talking about them - this is just an experience.)
He is not sure what it is. You and your body presented him with clues, and the clues seem to indicate it could be a virus. However, just in case it's something he can kill - he gives you a prescription for antibiotics and your 'get out of jail free' card - the You Are Medically Unfit for Work certificate.
Off to the chemist, you wait again, and the total sum of your trip is around $90 - $100.
You go home and eye the antibiotics suspiciously. They appear to be baiting you and they just feel like chemicals and giving in. Thinking that you normally get well anyway in about 3 days, you put them on top of the fridge. With the other old unopened antibiotics. Somewhere you read about them killing good bacteria anyway.
You are definitely off to bed, but first you have a glass of water because you are dehydrated from all the running round, you put on a load of washing, clean some windows, wash the kitchen floor and catch up on a few jobs that you haven't done around the house.
Later you feel much better. Even though you didn't take the tablets.
You moved out of work energy - your body was telling you to leave and you listened.
You moved into the energy of 'I am now seeking wellness' - the Doctors Clinic - and it was crucial, because the Doctor gave you a few minutes of his time, checked you out, reassured you slightly and gave you permission to be off work. (the recipe is completely gone from your memory)
You went to the Pharmacy even though you don't really like taking medication, because you are a person who follows through with things, and you still do believe medicine has some kind of role to play. (in some cases and for some people, it does)
Your body said no to the medication (I CAN DO IT was kicking in) and that's why (despite that nagging feeling your mother would growl) it's on the fridge. Your teaspoon of stubbornness (that will stop you from telling your mother you're sick) that busted through and said 'NO' has helped you to flip some kind of hidden switch.
You achieved something that, while it was just getting housework out of the way, was actually a 'weight off your shoulders' too. You feel lighter and a bit fresher, and also, in a small way, successful. You moved energy in your house.
You go to bed, but don't feel as sick as you did. In the morning you feel much better, better than you did when you were dragging yourself to work, but you stay home - just so you can have a day off that actually means something - because you have a certificate. (You can clean out the bowl on top of the fridge another day.)
Consider this: All the things you did that made you feel better - were things you were doing just for you.
What if you just gave yourself permission to take time, enjoying the nurturing energy of a natural therapy?
Natural Therapy tends to boost you and shorten healing time. That $90 - $100 is a great investment in a session of clearing, healing, moving stuck energy, maybe even including house and office clearing too.
Your session runs to the clock. You enter a peaceful 'bug free' haven (or even stay home, saving gas and travel time and have this healing via Skype) and as the energy is cleared round you, you are lifted into a space of freshness.
Your equilibrium is restored. You have a whole hour all to yourself. No antibiotics, just pure energy boosting, undivided attention that is all about, and all for you and your wellness.
Nurture time is GOOD. You feel more like You when you are finished/leave.
Enhancing wellness helps removes the need to heal unwellness.
Regular energy work helps you be more connected to the way your body feels, functions and how it speaks to you. Science actually says the body - despite the fact that you can push on it and it appears to be solid - is an energetic instrument. So this is why time and time again, physical illness is removed in ways that seem impossible, with energy.
And because it's just energy, it works on body, mind and spirit - not just the mechanics.

50+ways my healing has helped people
Deciphering your body code: Pain
If there is one thing I have learned, it's that all of life is about energy.
The body is a constant process of renewal, not a structure as some people
believe, and in it, energy never stops.
Our whole body - it's complete cellular make up, including all organs and the skeleton, is replaced within one year.
So what are we feeding it?
And I'm not talking food here, I'm talking energy and power.
Do we enable? Or disable?
What we observe becomes us. What we hold close becomes us. It literally does rub off. People that are close to us are oscillating in our field, the same way as we oscillate in theirs. It is actually impossible to be alone, because not just energetically
speaking, but scientifically speaking too -wherever we go, we take people,
trees, sky and plants with us.
We inhale each other and all the energy that is around us.
This is why we are sometimes referred to as One.
So when people 'get sick' in any way, what they are referring to is an imbalance of
energy - whether it shows up in a physical way or an emotional way - it starts
with a flattened/squashed/ or grey energy.
I have lost count of the number of people who tell me that they have had 'this thing forever' so they are 'stuck with it'. In a short time, these same people have been free.
Energy can be moved in a moment, and your pain, no matter how old it is, brings me joy.
Because my gift is the gift of turning pain to wellness.
Your physical, spiritual and emotional pain - to me - is an opportunity to exercise my abilities to bring you liberation, wellness and skills to help you and to change your life.
So educating you and freeing you, is not only my pleasure, it's the icing on my cake.
If you are carrying pain (no matter how old it is), you probably don't need a pill,
what you do need is TLC, a clearing and then, energy tools.
Simple, effective, and powerful.
Mainstream media mostly tells you that pain is a part of life. The cost of
believing that is massive, and they are right until you stop resisting the power
that you have within you and allow it to wake right up.
And that is most definitely a gift.
If you have a group, I have speakers rates available.
I am currently taking One on One clients, locally and world wide - either in person or via skype, and my next shows are scheduled in Hamilton - August
3rd, Tauranga August 23rd, Auckland Sept 6th, Nelson Sept 20th, Wellington Nov
28th, Auckland Dec 13th. I have been asked to speak in Dargaville and am arranging that.
My Christchurch show is to be advised - I have plans afoot for something super special... sending as many goodwill vibes as possible so it comes together perfectly.
I'm looking forward to giving you my simple tools to create an inspired, fabulous life, because it's my heartfelt wish to have a radical, positive effect on your life, and on the wellbeing of your family.
Are you ready to meet your brilliance?
In many cases ONE Energy Healing session can release ALL your pain.
can cut the distance between You and Your Healing into minutes.
Pain, stiffness and tension are all energy blockages - even pain due to injuries - and energy healing clears this.
Why do I think energy healing is great?
These are results...
and... helping plants grow. (You should see the size of my jade plant leaves!)
So what else is possible? All these things have happened for my clients, their testimonials are here.
I was a sceptic who regularly took Panadol and other painkillers for a chronic sore back. I had phantom pains, a broken heart, felt depressed and had low self esteem. I recovered from a prolonged series of traumatic life events that brought both extreme pain and around 30 years of fear. I still am partly sceptic and that's why I love to see and hear results.
Every day, people are helped by this work.
It works over the phone, via Skype, anywhere in the world.
Some people are helped in ways they never dreamed possible.
Are you ready to believe that you can let go of pain?
Our attitude defines us.
It swirls around everything we look at and is a part of our view of life.
If we believe everyone is out to get us, we are not going to be wearing the eyes to see the daily magic that's present everywhere.
If we believe that we live on the most amazing, miraculous planet and have amazing opportunities open to us - life shows us more.
It's very simple.
And there are all sorts of ways that we empower or disempower ourselves, depending on our mind sets.
Many of us have seen the simple experiment - someone has an outstretched arm and says 'I am strong, I am strong' - and another person tries to press that arm down to the floor. They encounter quite strong resistance.
When the person with their arm outstretched says 'I am weak, I am weak', they have almost no resistance to the person who pushes their arm easily to the floor.
Haven't seen it?
Try it. Try it on a friend without telling them what you are doing so you both have an element of surprise.
And then have a little think/brew/meditate on where you might be telling yourself you can't do something in your life. Chances are you are right, because you are disempowering you. Now if someone else talked to you that way - wouldn't you argue with them?
So what can you tell yourself that you CAN do, something that you wish to turn around and have a positive effect with?
You have to keep at this, but things become simpler the more often you do it.
You are breaking a habit and that takes a little persistence - or does it?
Perhaps you could tell yourself it doesn't and commit to an instant radical positive lifestyle change.
It's up to you.
If you would like a Reframing session - examining old thoughts and beliefs that you are ready to release, we can do that in one session.

Recently the Readers Digest ran an article called 'The Healing Power of Nothing', and in it discussed placebo medication. Featured were the findings of Dr Fabrizio Benedetti of Turin University, in his trial of anti anxiety drugs.
In his trial he had one group receiving the real medication and another not receiving the medication, but instead receiving a placebo.
Which group flourished?
The one receiving the placebo.
That group was also receiving a very attentive service from their Doctors.
The other group (with the real medication) was just being delivered their pills and left to it.
How necessary are drugs if we can help or heal ourselves with the Power of Placebo? And what does that say about the power of human caring? (in my book that is energy medicine) And it wasn't necessarily even real caring - it was manufactured for a survey. (Of course, there could have been some very caring individuals administering the placebos.)
Dr Benedetti says "The real placebo response, the real placebo effect is a
psychobiological phenomenon." That's mind/body right?
That's much better than just treating the body as a mechanical functioning system. And when the caring is added - that takes it through to the emotional body.
Don't underestimate the psychological benefit of anything. A benefit is a benefit, whatever it springs from. (And perhaps don't underestimate the reverse.)
The 'no therapeutic effects' quote in the picture at the top of my page is not very accurate. It's sourced via Wiki, and might be a prevailing belief - however slowly but surely, it's being eroded, challenged and shifted.
There are many definitions of placebo - the American Heritage Medical Dictionary says it's 'a substance containing no medication and prescribed or given to reinforce a patient's expectation to get well.'
Mosby's Medical Dictionary says similar, but also says placebos 'are also prescribed for patients who cannot be given the medication they request or who, in the judgment of the health care provider, do not need that medication.' (which I find a little like playing God.)
I don't know about you, but as I am an ex sceptic - more recent to mind medicine and holistic work - I've experienced the miraculous healing effects a Doctors waiting room has on small children. It's most definitely psychobiological. After an often endless wait - I've been embarrassed to say 'my child is sick'.
And the Doctor says "don't worry - it happens all the time. And gives antibiotics or a vague wave and says 'it's a virus - there is not much we can do.'
I would always go home and think 'argh - I don't really want to give antibiotics to my child and often just spent some time loving my child back to wellness instead.
I had many bottles of unopened antibiotics. They became a very last resort while I didn't know I had an option.
There are countless documented stories of spontaneous healing in the face of
near death. Countless stories of miraculous healings at the hands of patients themselves, carers or healers.
I can tell you many stories of my own clients who walked in here believing their pain was in charge of them, and then walked out free of it - without a pill crossing their lips.
Yesterday I worked on a client who has had a headache for 5 days - she said it 'was so bad, it was affecting her vision'. It's gone. After a distance healing that took approximately 5 minutes.
And she has had her AHA moment to go with it.
I am not saying that all medication is bad or Doctors are unnecessary - but the placebo effect is now well known and well documented - pills take time to process, have hidden side effects and generally also cost money. Chronic pain can often be relieved and released altogether - old pain can be erased with energy medicine and mind power. Injuries and illness can be released too. Life can be easier with energy medicine - which is created by knowledge and thought. It's a tool you can use for yourself and teach your children too, to enable and empower them. Pain is not what we - subject to mainstream advertising that fosters dependency, powerlessness and an interest in repeatedly lightening your wallet - previously were led to believe.
You are in charge. And you DO have options.
So I ask you this...
Will you take another pill to numb the pain before you find out more?
