![]() Past Life Healing is always interesting and often there is an element of torture in it. It became particularly full-on a few days ago when I saw a Scold's Bridle on a clients head. She said she felt like she had been living with a bucket on her head for years and years. I had never heard the phrase 'Scold's Bridle' before her healing and so I googled it immediately to identify it for her. We blessed it and removed it, and she is now free. In the moment it was lifted, she said she felt amazing, and then she sobbed with relief. What is a Scold's Bridle? It's a medieval torture device to shut a person - usually a woman up. A metal frame, resembling a horses bridle or a bucket, it went over the head, and if the 'Scold' were lucky she could still eat through it. She would be led around town by the person or persons that wanted to shut her up, to be scorned by everyone. Sometimes a precursor to a ducking stool or other unsavoury ending, it was for outspoken women, women who slandered others and was used by husbands, churchmen, anyone that felt it necessary. No doubt from time to time, it was also used on a man.
